Awhile ago I printed a photo book from Saal-Digital. I chose the 28×28 format with hardcover and printing on real photographic paper.
Going through it, I could appreciate the precision in making it; the corners of the cover are very good and the spaces
between it and the block have been fully respected, for the first and last page a card between cover and block restricts the undulations due to the structure.
The files reproduced on paper have the same colors as the one on my monitor, which has been calibrated with appropriate tools, the thin pages pasted together make a nice straight back, nice to see and, more, the matte photo paper gives a wonderful feeling to the touch.
There are no supports on the back of my book of 26 pages, but if it was of 120 pages, would it be still stable?
I solved my doubt writing an email to [email protected], they answered back very soon:
“In reference to photo books, the block is made first. For this reason, double pages are printed, then glued together each other until you get the entire book block. At the end of this process, the book block is fixed to the cover, the first and last pages are pasted tob the front and back side of the cover. No added support for photo books of 120 pages. Before introducing this option for our standard photo books (except for the 42×28 format and Extra), several tests demonstrated the stability of the product.”
I am very pleased and I think this company will help me in the future for other jobs that I am going to produce!
